Deansgate, Manchester

Deansgate is one of Manchester’s most historic and recognisable streets. A large building contractor approached us with a project consisting of 139 sash windows in need of restoration. As the property was situated on a main high street, there were additional safety measures which needed to be considered in order to complete the work without putting the public at risk.

During the sash window renovation process we boarded the outside of the windows to ensure there would be no risk to the general public walking on Deansgate Road below.

The building is a Grade II listed building so required sympathetic restoration and extra due care and attention. We carried out a full sash window renovation which included all timber repairs to the boxes, sashes and sills where possible. Then installed our Draught Proofing System, which has been fully approved for Listed Buildings, to further reduce the heat loss. Some of the most severely damaged sills needed to be replaced with new hardwood sills that were manufactured to match the original style. The windows were then reglazed due to cracks and missing panes of glass. We finished the sash windows with a putty point, finished on time and within our clients budget.
