Deansgate, Manchester: 16 Week Project
Deansgate is one of Manchester's most historic streets. A large building contractor approached us with a project consisting of 139 sash windows in need of restoration. As the property was situated on a main high street we had some safety measures which needed to be considered.
During the renovation process we had to board the outside of the windows to ensure there would be no risk to the general public walking on Deansgate road below.
This was a Grade II listed building so sympathetic restoration was needed and extra due care and attention. We carried out sash window renovation which included all timber repair to the boxes, sashes and sills where possible. Then installed our Draught Proofing System which has been fully approved for Listed Buildings. Some of the sills needed to be replaced with new hardwood sills and there was an amount of re-glazing that needed to be done on the sash windows, due to cracks and missing panes of glass. We finished the sash windows with a putty point, finished on time and within our client budget.
